Senior leadership and enough hands
A data project needs two things that are hard to get at the same time: someone senior enough to make the right calls on architecture and scope, and enough engineering hours to finish. Hiring a senior data engineer in Denmark takes six months or more. Buying the hours from a Danish consultancy costs enough that the scope gets cut instead.
Tamarillo puts a senior Danish lead in charge of your project and a delivery team behind that lead. The lead has built and run a data platform inside a large Danish company and knows SQL Server, SSIS, SAS and SAP BW well enough to know what has to move and what can be left behind. The engineers come from Awesomity Lab in Kigali and completed a three-month programme on Snowflake, dbt and Terraform that we designed and taught. They work in your repositories and your standups, one hour from Copenhagen.
Because the engineering hours are priced on Rwandan salaries rather than Danish ones, the capacity comes in at well under half of Danish market rates. The senior lead is priced like any Danish senior consultant.
The situations we work in
Reporting still runs on the old systems
The reports and pipelines were built on SQL Server, SSIS, SAS or SAP BW years ago. They work, but every change goes through the two people who understand them, and nobody wants to be the one who breaks the month-end numbers.
We move the workloads onto Snowflake or a comparable platform, rebuild the pipelines and models in dbt where your own team can read and change them, and switch the old jobs off one at a time as the new ones prove themselves.
The platform exists, the results do not
You already have Snowflake, Databricks or BigQuery. What you do not have is one definition of revenue that finance and sales agree on, or a way to get the data scientists' work in front of the people who could act on it.
We build the data products on top of what is there: one model with one definition per number, and pipelines that put the analysis into the CRM or the dashboard every morning without anyone running a notebook.
Too few people to keep it running
The platform was built by people who have since left or been pulled onto other work. The backlog of requests grows, the on-call rota is one person, and a replacement hire is at least six months away.
We take over the running and keep the backlog moving, with a Danish senior lead reviewing the work and engineers who join your standups. When you have hired, we hand over and step back.
